Former child star Raquel Lee Bolleau has filed a explosive lawsuit against The Walt Disney Company, alleging the entertainment giant failed to protect her from systemic sexual abuse when she was just 14 years old.
The legal filing targets Disney for corporate negligence and premises liability, detailing alleged assaults that occurred during the 2001 production of the Disney Channel Original Movie The Poof Point.
According to court documents, Bolleau—best known for her work on Nickelodeon’s The Amanda Show and voicing Nubia Gross on Disney’s The Proud Family—claims an unnamed crew member repeatedly sexually assaulted and harassed her throughout filming.
Crucially, the lawsuit alleges the misconduct was far from hidden.
“The abuse occurred in full view of cast and crew, and was clearly audible to sound technicians monitoring production microphones,” the court filing asserts, arguing that corporate management routinely ignored red flags to keep production moving.
The complaint alleges that crew members and set supervisors stood by while the perpetrator groomed and cornered the teenage actress in trailers, dressing rooms, and on-set staging areas. Bolleau claims the trauma derailed her early career and created decades of emotional distress.
This legal action comes on the heels of heightened scrutiny across the children’s entertainment industry. Following revelations featured in the Quiet on Set docuseries—which exposed toxic environments at major youth television networks—Bolleau previously spoke out on social media about stepping away from traditional acting to focus on her family.
Now, she is seeking unspecified compensatory and punitive damages, demanding accountability from executives who oversaw set safety during the early 2000s.
Representatives for Disney have not yet issued an official public response regarding the active litigation.
