‘I’ll take the wins’: Kellie Finlayson shares a health update after getting surgery amid her cancer battle

AFL star Jeremy Finlayson’s wife Kellie Finlayson recently revealed she was in hospital getting a resection amid her cancer battle.

And now Kellie has shared an update with fans, saying she’s feeling “so fine” after the surgery.

Sharing a post with her fans on Instagram, Finlayson shared a picture of herself this week and from when she was having the procedure done to showcase her progress.

“Me today, me a week ago,” her post was captioned.

In the images she showed off her surgery scars on her rib cage.

“Just over a week ago I was having a VATS wedge resection on my right lung to remove Mets & send off tissue to pathology in hope for more answers/better treatment plans,” Finlayson wrote.

“I’ve had soooo many people checking in to see how I’m doing, thankyou!!! and honestly, I’m so fine. Which I know is incredible given the major surgery I’ve just undergone, and I know not everyone is as lucky.”

She added it’s a “never-ending experience” and wrote: “But hey, I’ll take the wins when I can get them in this never-ending experience.”

Former Bachelor star turned podcaster Brittany Hockley commented underneath: “I hope you’re recovering well angel <3.”

“Sending so much love honey,” Bachelor star and podcaster Laura Byrne added.

Finlayson previously revealed she was spending her wedding anniversary in hospital and shared a public message to her husband and a throwback picture of the pair together on their wedding day.

“Happy anniversary darl. Two years ago V. Today!” she wrote.

“Happy anniversary to me,” she added, using a crying with laughter emoji and a bandaged love heart emoji.

She is battling terminal stage four bowel cancer that metastasised in her lungs.

Finlayson was diagnosed with bowel cancer at the age of 25.

Mother-of-one Finlayson previously discussed her diagnosis on Ant Middleton’s Nova podcast Head Game, speaking about her chemotherapy treatment and just how hard it was.

“I lost a s–t ton of weight. I mean, I had a stoma, so I had a foreign object on my stomach. I wasn’t the normal mum that she should have had, but I was as good as I possibly could be. It was hard,” she said about her daughter.

“I was allergic to one of the strands of that chemotherapy, which is why, when I did relapse, I had to change chemotherapy, which meant I lost my hair.

“I was on my deathbed. I was getting anaphylactic reactions every three weeks to this chemotherapy. So I was essentially dying every three weeks, just to get better.”
