Bunnings finds: The surprising $10 Bunnings hack cleaner swears by for making shower cleaning easier

Sometimes the things that make life easier are found where you least expect them, which is what some cleaners have discovered with a shower cleaning hack.

Whether you’re wanting to speed up the process, make applying cleaning product easier or rinsing the screen less messy, this garden product can help do all of that.

Hannah, a cleaning specialist, shared how she uses the $9.98 Nylex 1L manual garden spray from Bunnings on her shower in a TikTok video.

“Ok if you have weak baby hands like me & spraying an entire shower lowkey hurts – you NEED to give this one a try!” she captioned the post.

Hannah used the garden sprayer to apply cleaning product – a DIY mix of vinegar, dish soap and water – to her shower walls.

The sprayer covers large sections of the shower tiles and glass in seconds which is much faster than using a typical spray bottle which needs to be squeezed multiple times to cover the entire surface.

“This bathroom cleaning hack is a game changer… it is amazing,” she said in the video.

The hack was a hit with Hannah’s followers with some already using the sprayer themselves.

“There great idea I put tricleanium in mine for bathrooms n everything,” a woman said, adding that she uses just one tablespoon of the cleaning product in the sprayer.

“Best thing I’ve EVER used,” one commented.

“Nice and easy,” a cleaner said.

“That would be excellent on the windows,” another wrote.

The garden sprayer hack is also used by Rockstar Cleaning Crew who recommends them for rinsing shower screens and tiles with warm water after scrubbing if you don’t have a detachable shower head.

Using the garden sprayer to rinse the shower makes it less likely that you’ll splash yourself and the floor outside which is what often happens when you use a jug of water.

But first she uses a separate garden sprayer filled with a DIY mix to apply cleaning product to the tiles and glass.

“I use my mixture of rinse aid, vinegar and Dawn (dishwashing liquid). It breaks down all the soap scum in my showers, very rarely do I have to come in with the Bar Keeper’s Friend [soft cleanser],” she said in a TikTok video.

Once you’ve rinsed the cleaning product off the shower walls the next step is to go in with a squeegee to remove excess water. This helps prevents water spots as well as mould and mildew developing.

But if you’re finding soap scum particularly tough to remove another professional cleaner recommends adding a very quick and simple step to your shower cleaning routine to help break the grime down.

Rhonda Wilson, a cleaner with 20 years experience and the lead cleaner at FreshSpace Cleaning recommends pre-rinsing the shower glass with hot water before adding cleaning product.

This would be another great use for the garden sprayer when cleaning the shower.
