Prince Harry to return to Las Vegas, 13 years after nude photo scandal, for the Diana Award

The Duke of Sussex will return to Las Vegas next week, more than a decade after he was embroiled in a nude photo scandal following a game of “strip billiards”.

This time, Prince Harry will be in Nevada to launch a new youth initiative as part of the Diana Award.

It will take place on May 6, which is also his son Prince Archie’s sixth birthday and the second anniversary of the King’s coronation.

According to The Times, Prince Harry will be in Las Vegas to take part in a panel discussion with two young people who are holders of the Legacy Award, a prize given to recipients in memory of his late mother Diana, Princess of Wales.

The Diana Award was founded in 1999 and was one of the first organisations to be created in memory of the late royal, who died in a Paris car crash in 1997 aged 36.

In 2017, a legacy award was created to mark the 20th anniversary of Diana’s death. The award is the charity’s highest honour and is presented to winners during a ceremony held every two years.

What would his mum have thought? Prince Harry made headlines around the world in 2012 when he was photographed naked during a game of strip billiards.

It’s not clear whether Prince Harry’s wife Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, will accompany him on the journey.

Last week, the couple was in New York for a series of public events including an appearance on stage by Meghan at the Time100 Summit.

They later jointly unveiled a tribute, the Lost Screen Memorial, dedicated to the memory of children whose families believe harmful material on social media contributed to their deaths.

”We want to make sure that things are changed so that… no more kids are lost to social media,” Prince Harry told BBC Breakfast in Manhattan.

“Life is better off social media,” he added, saying that he was “grateful” that his children were still too young to be online.
