An Aussie teenager has made a surprising yet delightful find while cutting up an orange.
Sarah Espinoza, from Western Australia was preparing the fruit using her preferred method, which she tells 9honey is to “cut the bottom first and then on the top, then I cut it into half and then three more slices”
It was after making that first cut on the bottom of the orange that the 14-year-old discovered what resembled a smiling face.

“And we still have the orange with us, because my daughter don’t like to eat it [sic] as it is really special and extraordinary.”
It was a special moment for the Year 9 student, who is currently being homeschooled after suffering relentless bullying in school.
Maria, 41, said that since being homeschooled from September last year, her daughter has increased in “confidence” and “self-esteem”.

Maria says it’s “nice to have her safe and happy at home” and Sarah said it’s “fun” to have her mum as her teacher.
It’s a win-win for the mother and daughter duo who are now closer than ever before.

Maria says when her daughter showed her the orange, they immediately wanted to share the “good vibes” with others.
It’s proof that something that seems small can cause such joy for many.

Sarah says she loves sport and drama as well as acting and has been learning ventriloquism, inspired by Darcey Lynn who performed on America’s Got Talent.
“I was amazed,” she says. “I didn’t know she was like singing. I thought she was just like holding a recorder. And then like, she’s not, the puppet’s singing.”

She is considering transferring her craft to her smiling orange which takes pride of place on a shelf in her room.
“She won’t eat it, she is keeping it as a treasure,” mum Maria says.
“She’s trying to get another one.”
