There’s an alarming wedding trend circulating online at the moment, and one TikToker has seen enough.
Tori Moore, a modern etiquette expert, has taken to TikTok to call out brides and grooms who are choosing to use artificial intelligence to avoid paying for artwork.
It all came about when Moore stumbled upon a tutorial video of a bride explaining how she used ChatGPT to alter a sketch of her wedding venue to use on her invite, rather than paying the $115 fee to the original artist.

“It’s important to me that you guys know this is stealing,” she began, stitching the original creator’s video.
“This is an act of theft, and I’m not trying to be dramatic when I say that but I’ve seen several TikToks of the DIY brides stealing people’s art and uploading it into AI platforms to transform it into something else.
“And that is stealing from the artists, that’s theft, that’s copyright infringement like there are so many layers as to why that’s wrong.”
For many they may have not seen these kinds of videos appear in their algorithm, but a simple search of “AI wedding hack” will generate hundreds of videos explaining how you can use the online platforms to avoid paying a fee for the work.

“I know that wedding planning is expensive these days but that does not give you an excuse to steal someone’s art,” Moore added.
“Just because you ask the AI platform to change it and make it something new does not give you permission to steal that artist’s work without purchasing it from them directly.”
People in Moore’s comments were divided over the issue, with some arguing that if the art is “publicly available” through a google search then, “that is not stealing”.

While some agreed with that sentiment, artists in the comments shared their outrage over the act.
“As an artist, im shooooook by the comment section…..?! 😭😭,” one person wrote.
“I 1000% expected to open it and see people agreeing it’s wrong to steal something that an artist spent their time and talent to create?!”

In another video of a women explaining how she used Ai to make “custom stationary” for her wedding, the top comment read, “Well there goes my job”.
Another wrote, “I thought we weren’t on board with using AI to put artists out of jobs? 🥺”
While the trend seems to be taking over what is known as Wedding-Tok, it seems that artists and wedding experts alike are beginning to speak out against the act which could eventually put plenty of artists out of a job.
