A $20 Kmart buy is proving to offer more for the home than just a warmth with shoppers turning its packaging into all sorts of useful things.
A mum named Lily revealed in a TikTok video her hack for the bag her plush ribbed blanket came in and it inspired others to share their own ideas.
The blanket packaging bag has an elastic opening and is made from the same material as the blanket, making it stylish as well as handy for lots of situations.

The other blanket packaging bag hacks ranged from storage to winter warmers and décor.
Cushion covers were perhaps the most popular idea.

“Yes I do that as well. They are the perfect cushion size,” another said.

For one mum it is the perfect seat cover.
“Love this!! I put it over the seat of my daughters computer chair, so it matches her bed,” one wrote.
Some think it works well for keeping animals warm.
“I put them in my cats bed to keep them warm I get a blanket and so do they haha,” a woman said.
“They’d also be handy pouches for wildlife rescues too,” a shopper suggested.

The most common storage hack for the packaging bag is to use it for that very same item when you need to pack it away in the linen cupboard.
“I save them for when I put stuff away. For sheets it’s great because it helps keeps sets together,” a woman wrote.
But there are plenty of other things it can store.
“We use them too for all kinds of things. Most often they’re sacks for the toys though lol,” a TikToker commented.

Another wrote, “I use it to store my child’s footy boots in his sports bag! It’s absolutely perfect size and it stops all the grass and muck getting into his bag and on the rest of his clothes!”
They also work well for craft supplies. “They’re so practical! I use a duvet cover to hold wool for knitting.”

The bedding bag can also be used for travelling.
“I use mine as a little sack to put all my underwear, socks and bikinis in when I go away love your tip!” one commented.
“I sew a zipper on mine and stuff clothes in it & use it as a pillow on a plane when I’m travelling,” a Kmart fan said.
The clever ideas had some looking around to check whether they still had the bag from their bedding purchase, while those who binned theirs in the past now know to hold onto them.
“I just ran into my son’s room to make sure he didn’t throw his out! What a clever hack!!!! THANK YOU!!!!” a mum posted.

“I’ve got two of those covers laying around what a hack I’ve got to try!!!” another said.
If storage and décor isn’t your thing, many admitted they expected Lily’s hack to be turning the bag into a skirt. Though the size range for the skirt would mostly be toddlers, it’s not a bad idea.
As for the adults, some said they’ve worn the bag as a slouch hat, which could actually be quite cute and warm for winter.
