Anna Robards interview: Reality star talks about motherhood, going to Europe without her daughters and moving to the Gold Coast | Exclusive

When it comes to motherhood, there are a lot of things Anna Robards is letting go of the second time around.

Anna, who shares daughters Elle and Ruby with husband Tim Robards – who she fell in love with on The Bachelor – admitted she’s not as nervous or stressed with their newest addition.

“I’m not as nervous and anxious about everything, I kind of just roll with it and know that she’s gonna be OK,” she told 9honey Parenting from a Huggies event in Bondi.

“And because I’ve learned from my mistakes, as well.

“I think that’s super important, just knowing you’ve got this and you’ve got it under control.”

Anna, who is an ambassador for Huggies, said she reminds herself she has been through it before and Elle is fine – and she’s also let go of the pressure to be perfect.

“I know going from one to two is hard because you’re juggling more, but at the same time, you don’t put that pressure on yourself to be perfect,” she said.

“And I think, originally, I was always trying to be perfect with everything, looking up things 100 times.”

Another thing she’s realised is that sometimes you need to take time for yourself as a mum, despite how hard it feels to do it.

Anna and Tim are heading off to Italy soon, without their girls, for a wedding, and she admitted it will be hard leaving Ruby for the first time.

“My parents are coming to look after the girls, and then Tim’s parents are coming to look after the girls, so they’re gonna be in good hands,” she said.

“But for us, we’ve said that it’s really important to make sure we have time for each other.”

Anna fell pregnant with Ruby last time they were in Puglia, and it’s also where she and Tim tied the knot in 2018, so it’s a sentimental place for them.

“We’re not going for too long, we’re going for 12 days all up,” she added.

Like a lot of other parents, Anna said while she and Tim see each other every day, the focus on this trip is spending quality time together.

“It’s just one of those things that you’ve got to make a priority, because otherwise it just won’t happen,” she explained.

“It’s really important because you also do come back really refreshed as well.”

Anna said even finding a moment for herself during the day like going for a walk or a Pilates class helps her shift her mood and she feels like it makes her a better mum too.

“I think that’s the thing mums struggle with the most, it’s the guilt of, ‘Oh, I could be putting another load of washing on’ or ‘I should be getting dinner sorted’ but you just have to do it,” she said.

When it comes to self care, Huggies hasn’t forgotten mums either, launching a limited range of ‘cheeky’ sheet masks for your butt.

Anna and Tim have also just embarked on a huge life change, relocating from Sydney to the Gold Coast with their young girls.

The move is a first for Anna, who’s never lived away from her family, but so far it’s going well.

“Tim basically went a day earlier to set up and everything sort of like, like all the furniture and everything,” she said.

“I’m excited for a little bit of a change.”

But with work commitments bringing her back to Sydney so soon after the big move, she did miss a special milestone.

“My husband sends me a picture this morning,  he was taking both of the girls to daycare, it’s Ruby’s first time at daycare,” she said.

“I missed that, so I was a bit like, ‘oh’, but then I know she’s going to be fine. It’s not the end of the world and I’ve got to stop worrying and know that she’s OK.”
