Queensland man charged with murder after allegedly killing man in seemingly random rampage

A man has been charged murder after allegedly killing a man and attacking two others southwest of Bundaberg in a series of alleged violent attacks.

The rampage unfolded over about eight minutes in the small town of Childers, leaving an elderly man dead after he was allegedly brutally beaten with a metal pole.

This is said to have happened after a 36-year-old man driving a Subaru Liberty deliberately crashed into a Mitsubishi Pajero.

When the driver of the Pajero got out of his car after the collision, the perpetrator allegedly drove backwards into him, after which he punched the other man several times in the face.

After this, the 36-year-old drove onto Whitetbridge Road in North Isis where he confronted a 78-year-old man and allegedly punched him in the head before hitting him with a metal pole.

The Northern IS man suffered serious injuries and died on the spot.

The Subaru driver then allegedly drove to Crescent Street in Childers, where he allegedly assaulted a 66-year-old man.

Previously, the alleged perpetrator from Bundaberg West is said to have been involved in a car crash on the Bruce Highway near Glenorchy, where he is said to have deliberately reversed a Tesla before verbally abusing the driver of the Tesla.

None of the victims are said to be known to the man.

The crowd then restrained the man and allowed him to do so Police to arrest him.

He has been charged with murder, attempted murder, acts intended to maim, maim or disable, dangerous operation of a vehicle and eluding.

He will appear at Gladstone Magistrates Court via video link today.
