After multiple rescheduled wedding dates since their 2021 engagement, Sam Bennett and Elizabeth Brosnan were finally set to tie the knot on Friday, March 7.

But there was one unforeseen obstacle that would derail their wedding plans yet again – and it was completely out of their control.

“Looked at the weather forecast, sort of a week before, and saw it was going to be raining,” bride Brosnan recalled to Today hosts Sarah Abo and Karl Stefanovic.

“I thought, ‘Oh, whatever, rain on your wedding day, it’s supposed to be good luck’. But it turned out it was a bit more than just a bit of rain.”

That “bit of rain” ended up becoming Cyclone Alfred.

Bennett said they had just a ”little bit of drizzle” during the actual ceremony.
