Aldi confirms return of popular gluten free baking range following customer demand | Supermarket Sleuths

It’s so funny how even though we know our favourite grocery items are gone, we still look for them, long after they’ve been officially discontinued.

I still look for White Knights, every single time I am in the confectionary aisle of my local supermarkets.

Same comes to my favourite gluten free cake mixes at Aldi.

The discount supermarket stopped stocking the range in February this year, much to the disappointment of many because they were so good.

But we have some good news.

“Aldi’s popular Red Velvet and Brownie Gluten Free Cake mixes went on sale last year as part of ALDI’s Limited Time Only range,” the company confirmed at the time.

“As is the nature of Aldi’s ‘Limited Time Only’ range, these products were here for a good time, not a long time!

“Customer favourites have been known to return, so shoppers should keep an eye on our website for information on our ‘Limited Time Only’ and new product launches to find out if their favourite products are making a return.”

I was devastated, as was my daughter who has been following a gluten free and dairy free diet for the past year due to digestive issues.

She even tried low FODMAP for a few months in addition to gluten free and dairy free.

As gluten-free families know, it can be difficult to find good quality gluten-free versions of products and once we find excellent ones, we come to rely on them.

I reluctantly began trying other brands from Coles and Woolies and they were okay, but not the same.

So each week when I would do my shopping I found myself looking for them as though they would magically reappear – and they did!

I was once again longingly perusing the baking section at my local Aldi and saw not one, but two gluten free baking products.

I found White Mill gluten free golden butter cake mix and Yes You Can gluten free and dairy free choc fudge brownie mix.

Sadly the exceptional gluten free red velvet cake mix hasn’t returned, but I live in hope that it will.

But I also noticed several other gluten free items throughout my local Aldi store include a new range of gluten free bread.

Aldi Australia confirmed the products are back, with a spokesperson telling 9honey: “Delivering the highest quality products at the lowest possible prices to our ALDI shoppers is at the heart of everything we do.

“Customer feedback is important to us and we always bear it in mind when bringing favourite products back to our shelves or adding them to our everyday range. There is a growing demand for gluten-free options.”

“By offering a variety of gluten-free products to our shoppers we’re helping to provide delicious choices at affordable prices, ensuring that everyone, regardless of dietary restrictions, can enjoy great quality alternatives,” the spokesperson continued.

“Shoppers can keep an eye on our catalogue, the ALDI App or visit our new ALDI Australia website to discover our core range, new or returning items available.”

These items include a range of gluten free biscuits including coconut macaroons, Anzac biscuits and chocolate chip biscuits.

They also stock gluten free sweet potato wraps, crackers, flours and pastas.

Also in stock are gluten free cup noodles as well as treats including salted caramel and rocky road bars as well as cereals.

An estimated 3.1 million (12.1 percent) of Australians are eating gluten free and requests for gluten free options continue to be the largest special diet request in the country, according to Coeliac Australia.

This is due to coeliac disease as well as a range of digestive issues.

As a busy family of five, finding gluten free products that cater to my daughter’s digestive needs that the rest of us can enjoy is so important.

So thank you thank you thank you Aldi and Coles and Woolies, all of which now stock a great range of gluten free products for us all.
