Amazon order: Boy uses mum’s phone to order 70,000 lollipops, but what happened next will warm your heart

If you were wondering what an eight-year-old boy would buy if money were no object, you now have your answer.

It’s… 30 boxes of Dum-Dum lollipops.

A mum in the Kentucky in the US discovered this the hard way when she found the enormous order on her Amazon account.

Holly LaFavers later discovered her son Liam, eight, had placed the enormous order with the intention of sharing them with his friends.

She shared the hilarious story on Facebook, explaining that Liam had told her “he wanted to have a carnival” and was ordering the Dum-Dum lollipops “as prizes for his carnival”, AP reports.

“Again, he was being friendly, he was being kind to his friends,” she said.

Not only would the order leave them with 70,000 of the treats in total, the cost would be US $4,000 ($6,216).

“When I saw what the number was, I just about fainted,” she said.

Holly did her best to cancel the order but initially wasn’t able to.

The order was delivered to her doorstep and made for an extraordinary sight.

After counting the boxes she realised there were 22 only, and eight had gone missing.

She later discovered eight had been returned to sender.

Holly tried to return the order for a refund but told her Facebook followers that Amazon “will not let me return them”.

May of her followers suggested ways to distribute them including selling them, or “setting up a lemonade stand but with lollipops”.

“Dispute it through your bank,” another said.

So, Holly decided to sell them, writing: “Hi Everyone! Liam ordered 30 cases of Dum-Dums and Amazon will not let me return them. Sale: $130 box. Still sealed.”

Holly later shared in an update that she was able to obtain a refund for the order.

But in a sweet and unexpected twist, she was also told she could keep the boxes that had been delivered and offer them to her followers, suggesting they could “donate them to a charity of your choice”.

Soon families were sharing their own stories in the comments section of her post.

“I’m sorry but this is too funny not to laugh about but I will cry with you too! Once Landon bought US $250 ($386) worth of ROBLOX something or another,” one mum wrote.

A grandmother said: “I can somewhat relate. mMy grandson Gage who has Down Syndrome was 10 at the time ordered a camping adventure kit from Amazon without me knowing. I received notification to pick up package at UPS store. Came in Gage’s name to our summer address, he was visiting us at the time.

“I had no idea he even knew how to do that much less send to the correct address. He immediately fessed up to it when I asked him if he ordered something from Amazon, ‘yes Nana, I’m going on a camping adventure’ – how could I be upset with that. It came w/ a pup tent, butterfly net, vest, flashlight and a “bug box” to put his catches in!!!!!”

“Well, as a mum that has experienced unwanted orders I feel your pain. I assure you, you will laugh about it later – probably while eating a lollipop!” another said.

Holly also said she is changing some settings of her phone to ensure this never happens again.
