Although Emperor Charles I was the last leader of the Austrian monarchy, which was abolished in 1918, his descendants have remained within the public eye.

When Estelle and Carl Christian married, after all, ”princes, archdukes and other distinguished guests had great difficulty making their way through the onlookers” gathered in the town square to spectate, per Point De Vue.

Three hundred guests attended Estelle and Christian’s nuptials, including Astrid, Liechtenstein’s Prince Gundakar, and Jean-Christophe, Prince Napoléon.
