Ashy Bines has responded to plenty of criticism she’s been copping after choosing to go on a girls trip without her family.

The fitness and lifestyle influencer, who shares two children with her husband Steven Evans, has spent the last week on a holiday in Bali and has faced a lot of backlash for enjoying the trip, while her husband and kids stayed at home.

In response, Bines shared a message of her own calling out the mum shaming.

“Stop living for everyone else,” she wrote in an Instagram post.

“People will tell you how to live, what’s wrong with you and your life and project their own ‘rules’ and beliefs onto you.

“If you live by their rulebook, you’ll never feel truly happy or free to just be YOU.”

Bines continued to share some of the comments she had received that criticised her decision to leave her family for a holiday.

“You should be with your family”, ” Good mums don’t leave their kids behind on holiday”, “Such a selfish mum and partner” were some of the comments the influencer says she received.

Another comment Bines says she received read: “Poor Steve having the kids to himself while you relax in Bali”.

While another commented on her holiday outfits, saying, “mums shouldn’t wear that, how embarrassing”.

Bines continued to share that “Steve is incredibly supportive and a very capable, hands-on father.”

“I refuse to live my life or neglect my own needs because of what others think.

“I won’t put myself last of stop spending time with my friends, going on holiday or pursuing my passions just because people label me as selfish or a bad mum.”

She also added that being a mum shouldn’t take away your agency and your ability to enjoy the many things that make for a full life.

“Just because you’re a mum doesn’t mean you can’t: have fun, relax, spend time with friends, pursue passions or hobbies, take opportunities, have a career, travel, express yourself, be sexual, do silly TikToks,” she wrote.

For Bines, it’s important for her kids to see their mum living a full life so they see that they can do the same.

“I want my kids to see my embracing all aspects so that they understand they are normal, important and something they should do for themselves,” she wrote.

“I want them to prioritise their mental health, their bodies, their energy and their relationships with partners, friends and anyone else who matters to them.

“I want them to explore life, the world and themselves without guilt or shame. So YES, I will do all of the above and have so much fun while doing it.”

“Your life choices don’t need to make sense for anyone but YOU,” she captioned a video that she shared with her post.

Bines made a trip to Bali for a week long girls trip. Her husband Steve remained at home with their two kids Taj and Tala.
