Barack and Michelle Obama share rare family photo to celebrate daughter’s 24th birthday

Michelle and Barack Obama have posted dual Instagram posts to mark a sweet family milestone.

The couple’s youngest child, daughter Sasha, celebrated her 24th birthday on June 10.

“Happy birthday to my sweet girl, Sasha! Can’t believe how quickly time has flown. I’m so proud of the woman you’ve become. Love you always!” Michelle, 61, wrote alongside a rare photo of the family.

Barack, 63, added: “Happy birthday, Sasha! Watching you grow into the incredible woman you are has been a true gift.

“I’ll always be proud of you and will always be here for you.”

The proud parents shared the same photo showing them standing with their daughters; Michelle standing in between the two girls, and Barack alongside Sadie.

The couple’s older daughter Malia will celebrate her 27th birthday on July 4.

Michelle Obama spoke about her pride in her two daughters during her podcast IMO co-hosted with her brother Craig Robinson.

The former US First Lady also shared her newfound freedom after both her daughters were “launched”.

Malia works in the film industry in the US, using the name “Malia Ann” in her work, shown in the credits of her first short film The Heart, released in 2024.

She recently joined Oliver Hudson’s Sibling Revelry podcast and said she understands Malia’s choice to use the moniker.

“Our daughters are 25 and 23. They’re young adult women, but they went through a period in their teen years where it was the push away. They’re still doing that,” she said.

She later said: “It is very important for my kids to feel like they’ve earned what they are getting in the world, and they don’t want people to assume that they don’t work hard, that they’re just naturally handed things.
