All it took was a simple online message to send millennials everywhere in disrepair.
Bebo, the first social media website which started in 2005 has announced that it is going to make a huge comeback in the coming days.
Those who used the social networking site in the 2000s — whose name stood for “blog early, blog often” — are probably feeling a wave of nostalgia for the news.

Big news for millennials is that social media site Bebo has announced a 2026 relaunch. (Facebook/@Bebo)
“The all-new Bebo will be launched in the coming days. I’m happy to be back!” the brand said in the announcement post, shared on Facebook.
It remains unclear what exactly the new site will look like, or whether it will be anything like the old social networking platform it started with.
A post on bebo.com reads: “Text-based podcasting – where the real-time conversation happens between the podcasts.”

Below Bebo’s announcement post, a Facebook user expressed a thought that attracted thousands of likes.
“Imagine us all signing up and logging back into our old Bebo, imagine seeing our old better half, funky wallpaper, DJ cammy in the background as I scroll to see what brand of cigarettes I am [crying with laughter emojis]” they wrote.
‘Millennials in the house! [crying with laughter emojis]” added another.
Another added: “The real Bebo or something else? We need the 2005 version but in 2026 lol.”

Users will remember the old site, created by husband and wife team Michael and Xochi Birch, which featured a ‘top 16’ friends list and a red logo.
You can also designate a friend as your “other half” and add music to your page.
Bebo was sold to AOL in 2008 for a whopping $850 million, and was sold again two years later in 2010. The number of users decreased.

In 2013, it was reported that Bebo was sold to one of its founders for $1 million after it filed for bankruptcy protection.
In 2019, it was reported that Twitch had acquired Bebo.
It was said to be offline and would return in 2021.
But it looks like 2026 is the year of Bebo’s big comeback. The site would be back in the hands of the founders.
