Brisket bandit caught on camera stealing beef from Perth’s Rump Shakers Southern River butcher

EXCLUSIVE: A bizarre one theft in Perth was caught on camera, showing a man taking an armful of premium beef worth hundreds of dollars.

The “chest bandit” enraged the Southern River butcher and led to a police investigation.

CCTV footage shows him packing a box of shapes before the meat robbery begins.

“You can see the old friend just walking through, looking and eating his crackers,” Rump Shakers Southern River butcher John Bain told 9News.

He then jumps over the counter and makes off with what Bain said were two briskets weighing about 30 pounds.

“It just irritates me, he obviously didn’t care that he got caught, I guess,” Bain said.

Bain posted about the theft on social media and was flooded with loyal customers trying to help.

“Laugh your piece of shit on camera,” he wrote this morning.

‘Does anyone know this low life?

“It will be on every chat page I know of and the police will have the footage this morning.

“Hey, at least be a smart criminal and don’t stop in sight of the cameras (sic).”

Online sleuths have since been able to identify a potential suspect.

The camera images have been handed over to the police, who are investigating.

But in the meantime, it’s a costly loss that the small business must absorb.

“Uncontrollable costs are skyrocketing at the moment. Not just me, not just butchers, small businesses in general and families too, we’re all feeling it,” says Bain.

Charges have yet to be filed in the theft, but Bain says he will beef up security.

“Mate, go out and make a dollar. Don’t steal from us,” he said.
