British Royal Family Easter 2026: Style lesson Kate Middleton is passing down to Princess Charlotte

One style lesson the Princess of Wales already passed on to her daughter, Princess Charlotte? That it is not always necessary to wear a new outfit.

Frankly, this is an approach that will be fashionable Charlotte‘s genes.

Her grandfather, King Charles, famously wears coats, suits and shoes that he has owned for decades; her great-aunt, Princess Anne, makes headlines for recycling items she first wore in the 1970s; and even her great-grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, was fastidious about using the tailored items in her wardrobes for both duty and leisure.

Catherine and Charlotte attended the Easter Sunday service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor and reused items they had previously worn and wore them in a new way.

The Princess of Wales opted for a cream-colored midi dress from the London label Self-Portrait.

It’s one of many similar styles she owns that look like a separate jacket and skirt, but are actually one piece. This version comes with a belted jacket and lace details on the bodice.

Catherine first wore the dress four years ago during a visit to the Royal College of Midwives.

It was then styled in a business-like manner with simple cream pumps, while for this new outing the princess took the look to the next level with a new Juliette Millinery hat and Queen Elizabeth’s Bahrain pearl earrings.

Meanwhile, Princess Charlotte wore a fawn and brown Catherine Walker coat, which was first seen on Christmas Day in 2025.

She then wore it with brown tights and a brown hair ribbon, while for Sunday’s more springy look, the coat was layered over a light blue dress, matching the ties worn by Prince William, Prince George and Prince Louis.

Charlotte’s coat is a replica of the Katherine Hooker style that her mother wore during her first royal engagement in February 2011, giving it an added sense of history and nostalgia.

True to form, Princess Anne was also in a style-recycling mood on Sunday, taking the trend one step further by wearing a teal coat that she also wore on Easter Sunday in 2018.

She has also worn it several times since, at the Cheltenham Festival and on a visit to the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst.

Putting realistic practicalities above any ideas about channeling the arrival of spring, the princess wore the coat with a pair of warm, knee-high suede boots.

Queen Camilla distanced herself from the morning’s cream and blue theme, opting instead for a striking red Fiona Clare coat and Philip Treacy hat, a sartorial sign of her seniority.

A notable exception to the theme of Easter rewearing was Harriet Sperling, who will marry Peter Phillips on June 6. She first joined the service on Easter Day, debuting an elegant new light blue polka dot two-piece from Beulah London.

She completed the look with a hat from Jane Taylor Millinery, a clutch and heels from Emmy London and earrings from Kiki McDonagh.

Without the same archive of occasionwear as the rest of the royal family, it’s understandable that she came up with a new look for the occasion.

Beulah, also a favorite of the Princess of Wales, has become a favorite for Sperling since she started dressing for royal appearances and this is the fourth time she has been photographed in the brand, which was set up to help vulnerable women by using them to help create the designs.

Natasha Finch, co-founder of Beulah, said of Sperling’s latest look: “The color feels uplifting and full of optimism – perfect for Easter – while the timeless polka dot set is elegant and sophisticated. It’s a privilege to dress her for such a poignant occasion on Easter Sunday.”

Beulah recently launched a selection of elegant wedding dresses. Could Sperling give us clues to the identity of her wedding dress designer?
