King Frederik was spotted with his brother, Prince Joachim, after the siblings spent Christmas apart.

The Danish royal palace shared a new photo of the pair to its Instagram as Frederik and his wife, Queen Mary, held their New Year’s reception at Christiansborg Palace.

Prince Joachim, 55, was joined by 1,000 attendees at the event, which included officers from the armed forces, representatives of major national organisations and more.

“When the Royal Couple held a New Year’s course at Christiansborg Castle today, His Royal Highness Prince Joachim was amongst the Majesties’ approximately 1,000 course guests,” the palace wrote.

“Prince Joachim, who is a brigadier general, participated in Their Majesties The King and Queen’s New Year’s Shower in his capacity as Defense Industry Attaché at the Royal Danish Embassy in Washington.”
