Drink bottle pulled from Kmart shelves over projectile fears

Anko’s two-liter stainless steel water bottle was ubiquitous on the shelves at Kmart and Target.

But both the kakhi and black colored versions of the bottle have now been recalled.

There are concerns that exposure to hot liquids could shrink the threads of the lid, causing the lid to pop off like a projectile.

This can also lead to burns if the hot liquid inside is spilled, Product Safety Australia warned.

The watchdog noted in its recall that “incidents have occurred”, although it did not say whether they had resulted in injuries so far.

Customers are advised not to use the bottle to store hot liquids and to return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
