Dummy: Mum Amy swears by using glow in the dark dummies to get everyone in her home sleeping more

There are thousands of parenting products on the market that claim to make life better, easier or get your baby sleeping for longer, and for a long time I had my doubts about a lot of them.

But there’s one little hack that I stumbled on months ago and I can say it’s not only helped everyone sleep better, but it’s been a game-changer.

If you’re a parent who’s got a little one who needs a dummy to fall asleep and sooth themselves if they wake up in the night – buy the glow in the dark dummies.

Now, I know a lot of mums and dads out there are probably like … this is not a new hack?

Sure it might not be for you, but it took me a long time to fork out for special dummies with the glow ring, and I wish I did it sooner.

Hear me out, these are now the ONLY dummies I will buy because they work magic.

Back when we were in the process of teaching our daughter how to sleep with her arms outside the swaddle, navigating the new world of rolling she lost the dummy constantly.

She’d wake up hysterical and either my husband or I would have to fumble around in the dark, trying as quick as possible to find one to give back to her so she’d calm down and restart the process of trying to fall back to sleep.

A glow in the dark dummy would have been a life saver here.

One thing we’ve noticed since we introduced the glow in the dark dummy is she can actually find it herself.

We’ll hear a little cry come from the baby monitor and watch her look around in the cot, clocking the dummy – thanks to the glow – and she can grab it and pop it back in her mouth and straight back to sleep.

It’s been a game changer.

It’s also helped us if she’s still crying because the dummy has fallen out of the cot, making it so easy to spot where it is and quickly give it back, or grab one from the little glowing pile on the chest of drawers in her room.

Honestly it’s one of my biggest regrets, not jumping on board the glowing dummy bandwagon sooner.

They’ve helped all of us get more sleep and it’s just so much easier to find them when you’re half asleep and trying desperately not to shine a light in your baby’s face.

The best part? Most brands of dummies do them, and in multi-packs – because everyone who has a baby who loves a dummy knows that the best thing to do is have plenty on hand.
