Footage of alleged Sydney kidnap revealed as victim released by captors after 36-hour ordeal

A Sydney father has been released by his captors 36 hours after being kidnapped in a south-west suburb of the city, as authorities continue to investigate the motive behind the incident.

The kidnapping, which was caught CCTV, took place in Bass Hill on Tuesday around 10:30 p.m. A white one auto was seen driving to a house before three men kidnapped Albert Harmouche, dragged him into a vehicle and fired a single shot.

The men appear to pull the 43-year-old from his car and into a waiting vehicle before driving away.

It is understood Harmouche was not shot and was released by the alleged kidnappers following an investigation by the Robbery and Serious Crimes Squad.

9News has learned that the kidnappers dropped Harmouche off from his parents’ home in the early hours of this morning, wearing shorts and a T-shirt.

The family later called an ambulance and authorities were notified.

Although he is known to be known to police, it does not appear that he had any ties to any major gangs.

Authorities are investigating reports that the alleged kidnappers demanded a ransom of up to $10 million and filmed videos of the victim that were sent to associates.
