A former close friend of Meghan Markle’s has spoken about the end of their friendship.
PR guru Nick Ede was contacted by a representative of Meghan’s when she first arrived in the UK and said he tried to help the then-actress find work in the West End theatre district.
“What she wanted to do at the time – she was on Suits so she had three or four months at a time when she could kind of do what she wanted to do – and she’d seen other celebrities on the West End offered a short run, and she wanted to do that,” he explained.

“We were messaging each other when she was feeling bullied and Prince Harry put out that statement, and I said, ‘I’m glad you’ve got somebody who’s actually supporting me,’ and she said, ‘That really means a lot,'” he recalled.
Ede said their friendship was “generally a good friendship” and he described Meghan as focused on promoting her blog The Tig.

“We’d message and text each other a lot. I have my own charity and she was going to help and write about it on The Tig,” he said.
Ede spoke glowingly of the duchess, her true nature “didn’t come across” on her recent Netflix series With Love, Meghan.

“I tell you what is great about Meghan – and didn’t really come across in the TV show – is that she was genuinely interested in people and genuinely wanted to take the time and a moment to learn more about them… I felt that was really authentic and I really liked that about her – there was also a vulnerability and insecurity too. She looked fabulous and gorgeous but there was a shyness too, which was very endearing,” he said.

Ede wasn’t impressed by Meghan’s series, saying it left him feeling “patronised” due to her advice being so basic.
He said he also “didn’t care for” how she treated her guests on the show.
“I don’t think there’s actually anything to be jealous about because I feel like she’s in this gilded cage,” Ede said.
“Nothing looks particularly celebratory really, it all feels so forced.”
