Gabriel Macht and Jacinda Barrett played love interests in the hit show, Suits.

But behind the scenes, some fans may not have known the Aussie actress and American star were already a married couple.

The fiercely-private pair married back in 2004, after meeting on a “blind date” and falling for each other.

This has led to a romance now spanning two decades.

‘We’ve been together ever since’

It seems the actor, 53, who hails from New York, fell for the girl from Brisbane right away.

“She had me laughing, she was a great listener and she was able to balance a conversation where it wasn’t just all about her or me,” Macht told Glamour back in 2009.

The pair went for a meal at a restaurant and he turned up the romance for his future wife by organising to have the venue to themselves.

“I picked three different restaurants; she said yes to one of them,” he told the publication.

“We closed down the place, and we’ve been together ever since.”

He went on to call Barrett, who is known for her roles in films including Bridget Jones, “one of the more beautiful women in the world”.

Her biggest supporter

Barrett for her part, has gushed about her husband in previous – and rare – interviews.

“…My husband is amazing in never doubting me,” she said in a chat published on Female.com.au.

She was talking to the publication about turning to acting after modelling.

Speaking about filming the Australian drama film called Matching Jack, which came out in 2010, she added in the chat that her husband provided her support after filming a difficult scene.

“Gabriel understands what I’m going through and he was there the entire time with me in Melbourne,” she said.

“He was only going to come for the first half and then come back and forth from L.A., but he just ended up staying the whole time and it was so valuable to have him and my daughter Satine to come home to every night.”

In 2018, Macht shared what appeared to be a rarely-seen photo from their wedding day on Instagram and gushed about his wife as they marked their anniversary.

“Happy 14th Anniversary @jacindabarrett you are my spiritual partner forever and I have fallen for you each and every day since we crossed paths. Mother, partner, best friend, confidente, soulmate, #wife #anniversary #i #love #you,” he wrote.

In 2019, he said they had been married for 15 years and together for 19 in total, meaning their first date was in 2000. 

“No words other than…15 years by law and 19 total. Happy Anniversary.”

Private family life

The pair are parents to two and Macht has previously praised his wife and gave fans an insight into what she’s like as a mother.

“Our kids are the beneficiary of your guidance, compassion, love, humor, discipline, health conscious eating, freedom, sense of art, playfulness, emotional clarity, and integrity,” he sweetly wrote as he marked Mother’s Day in 2017.

“It is with the utmost respect and dignity that I hold you in this gift you give our children each and every day.”

The couple recently made headlines for their move overseas from the U.S.

A move abroad

The actor previously told People he was “based somewhere in Europe,” and the news was published by various international outlets, but it seems the information of the exact continent they’re now on has been taken out of the original story.

Just a few weeks ago, in another interview, Macht told People he has lots of “anonymity” where they’re living now.

“I am absolutely in love with my anonymity, and so when I’m working and I’ve got the suit on and someone wants to know something, I try my best to give a moment,” he said.

“But when I’m not working, I don’t want to be known.”

Barrett has previously said how much she loves travelling the world with her husband, perhaps prefacing their international move.

In 2018, she shared a sweet picture of their family exploring the UK and wrote: “When it is just the four of us wandering in unknown places I’m so happy.”
