Harry and Meghan Australia Tour 2026: The lucrative detail in Meghan, Harry ‘non-royal’ Australian tour that has left royal family with ‘considerable concern’

The now completed royal tour of Australia through the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would have caused concern among members of the royal family, this time thanks Meghans decide to ‘commercializeher tour wardrobe.

The Sussexes continue to turn up the heat on their ‘non-royal’ royal tour of Australia, which concluded on Friday, and Meghan’s decision to use the tour to launch a partnership with AI fashion platform OneOff is another example of that.

The Telegraph in Britain, one of those who have reported alarm bells ringing in royal circles is that Meghan is making money from a shopping platform built around the outfits she wears during charity activities.

Meghan’s personal fashion page was launched on April 14, the first day of their trip to Australia.

The AI-powered fashion discovery app allows customers to purchase clothes worn by celebrities.

But not just making money from clicking on the links to the clothes she wears as a ‘recommended user’, she is also reportedly an investor and partner in the platform, which launched in October 2025.

This is also not the first time that Meghan has ventured into ‘cash for clicks’ territory. In March 2025, she briefly tried a similar venture, using ShopMy to share links to her favorite products, which proved short-lived.

The move was widely reported at the time. But it now seems that instead of reconsidering such a commercial move, she simply got a better offer.

OneOff describes itself as a ‘style-driven platform for fashion discovery, powered by the people who set the trends’. It allows users to find exact or similar items worn by celebrities, often through direct links to luxury retailers.

Meghan joins celebrities like Ashlee Simpson, Emma Roberts, Kate Hudson, Olivia Palermo, Paris Hilton, Suki Waterhouse, Shanina Shaik and Rob Lowe on the platform.

Among Meghan’s “looks” you can access through the app is the outfit she wore on their first stop on the non-royal royal tour: a trip to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne to meet patients.

And that’s where it gets tricky.

While the landing page for OneOff only lists her as ‘Meghan’, click the link and you’ll see she’s also called ‘Duchess of Sussex’.

And the royal family won’t like it at all.

The Telegraph said the commercialization of the Duchess’s wardrobe behind closed doors in the palace had caused ‘major concerns’, and quoted a royal source as saying: ‘Everyone is just rolling their eyes now because they know the routine – push the envelope, get criticised, turn the other way and say you’ve made a donation.

“Making money while doing ‘philanthropic’ work makes it seem like they are having their cake and enjoying it.”

It quoted another insider as saying: “Swelling is one thing, but making a fake royal visit to a children’s hospital while flogging your outfits online seems to have crossed a line.”

So far, Meghan’s OneOff page features seven outfits she’s worn since the couple arrived for their non-royal royal tour, which you can purchase by clicking the link.

This includes the look she wore to the Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne on Tuesday: a black Karen Gee ‘Priscilla dress’ that will set you back $1745 and gold earrings ($1088). There was also a pair of Christian Dior shoes for $167, but these appear to be sold out.

There are six other looks from her Australian tour so far to choose from.

According to Fashionthe current revenue split on a sale is 10 to 25 percent from the retailer to OneOff, which is then shared with the maker.

While these types of commercial deals are nothing new since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex left the royal family, the palace won’t be happy about them.

The late Queen Elizabeth herself was not in favor of any form of amalgamation of royal and commercial enterprises. The monarch vetoed the original half-in, half-half-out approach they touted when they first announced they would be stepping back as senior members of the royal family in a dramatic Instagram post in January 2020 that reportedly blindsided the royal family.

“After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year and take on a progressive new role within this institution,” they wrote in a post on their former Sussex Royal Instagram page.

“We plan to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen,” the post continued, adding that they planned to “balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, and continue to honor our duty to the Queen, the Commonwealth and our patrons.”

However, the so-called Sandringham Summit soon put an end to this.

Prince Harry wrote in his book Save that there were five options ranging from number one; continue with the status quo, to option five; no royal role, no working for the queen and total loss of security protection.

“Option three was somewhere in between. A compromise. Closest to what we originally proposed,” he wrote.

“But the family obviously pushed me to choose option one. If that didn’t happen, they would only accept option five.”

As part of the final agreement in 2020, Harry and Meghan agreed to no longer use their Duke and Duchess titles for commercial purposes.

Yet they have done so repeatedly in the six years since, and this latest venture is another example of that.

No wonder their non-royal royal tour of Australia has caused fear in Britain, not least because Prince Harry’s father is our head of state and the Duke decided to refer to him and his role as a father while speaking during a visit to the Western Bulldogs headquarters at Mission Whitten Oval – for which he was not paid – in Melbourne earlier this week.

It was just one stop on a tour with a confusing itinerary that combines commercial and charitable efforts.

That same day, Meghan complained that she was “the most cheated person in the world” during a visit with her husband to the Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Program, Batyr, at Swinburne University.

The visit also raised eyebrows because Meghan chose to wear tights, which she paired with a shapeless brown dress, after previously complaining about having to wear nude pantyhouse during her royal duties.

You can shop the look on OneOff, including the aforementioned tights.

Oh, to now be a fly on the wall at Buckingham Palace.
