‘Has been very interesting’: Princess Alexandra of Hanover talks about life with much older siblings

Princess Alexandra of Hanover has opened up about her glamorous life as part European royalty.

Alexandra, 25, is the youngest daughter of Princess Caroline of Monaco from the royal’s third marriage to Prince Ernst August of Hanover.

She has five older siblings, three from her mother’s previous marriage and two from her father’s.

Princess Alexandra has told Elle Espana magazine she feels “very close” to all of her older siblings, despite the age differences.

“Growing up with a lot of older siblings has been very interesting, as has watching them grow and see how they’ve gone through different stages of their lives,” she said.

“I feel very fortunate because, with them, their partners and families have come along, and I have great relationships with all of them. That’s made the process of growing up less intimidating,” the royal continued.

“Watching them move out, start homes, and raise their children has made the future less scary, I guess.”

Caroline is mother to Andrea Albert Pierre Casiraghi, 40, Charlotte Marie Pomeline Casiraghi, 38, and Pierre Rainier Stefano Casiraghi, from her second marriage to Stefano Casiraghi who died in 1990 in a racing accident.

Alexandra’s father has to two children from a previous marriage. They are Prince Ernst August, 41, and Prince Christian, 35.

Princess Alexandra is the only one of Princess Caroline’s four children who holds a royal title. She is formally styled as Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra of Hanover and is 13th in the line of succession to the Monegasque throne.

Through her father, she was in the line of succession to the British throne until 2018, when she was confirmed into the Catholic Church, effectively renouncing her place in the British line of succession.

Princess Alexandra is the only child of Princess Caroline and Prince Ernst August of Hanover.

The couple reportedly separated in 2009 but are yet to officially divorce.

She regularly attends official events with her family including her mother, siblings, nieces and nephews.

Princess Alexandra spoke of her admiration for Princess Caroline during the interview, telling the publication her mother “never lets anything get to her”.

Meet the new generation of young royals

“She’s very brave and never panics; she’s incredibly strong, yet also calm in different situations,” Princess Alexandra explained.

“I’ve always known I can come to her with any problem and that we’ll address it together calmly and without drama. She’s truly a pillar for all of us.”

Princess Alexandra has a bright future ahead of her.

She is a former figure skater, representing Monaco in figure skating at the 2015 European Youth Olympic Festival in Austria and in two competitive events during the 2015–16 season at the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating.

She has completed her Master of Arts in History and Literature at Columbia University in Paris in 2024.

Alexandra speaks French, English, German, Spanish and Italian. She reportedly divides her time between Paris and Luxembourg.

The young royal is reportedly interested in fashion, previously attending the Paris Fashion Show.
