IKEA PS 2026 collection: Furniture retailer offering Sydney staycation for $19.95 per night

Have you ever felt the urge to play house when you walk into a house? Ikea showroom?

Now you can comply: the Swedish furniture retailer is offering Aussies a stay in the heart of Sydney for under $20.

IKEA Australia will furnish a design house in the Inner West with items from the latest collection, Ikea PS 2026, which allows you to live out your fantasy for a night during the June long weekend.

The artistic home in Camperdown is available for five nights only, from June 3 to 8, for $19.95 per night.

“At a time when many Australians are reconsidering what seems achievable, we wanted to create something that puts great design back within reach in a meaningful way,” Patricia Routledge, head of communications at IKEA Australia and New Zealand, told nine.com.au.

“A long weekend stay in Sydney can add up quickly, so offering a considered, architecturally designed home for $19.95 is deliberately disruptive and based on our belief in affordability and demonstrates our democratic design in real life.

“It’s not just about price, though. It’s about showing that thoughtful, well-designed spaces can still provide comfort, joy and a sense of escape without having to be expensive.

“The IKEA PS 2026 collection is designed to be experienced hands-on, so we wanted to bring it to a real home environment in this Inner West home.”

The home will be filled with playful yet functional pieces from the collection, including one of the most popular pieces, Knäbäck, a bright green chair completely filled with air.

The colorful configuration is also complemented by the new floor uplighter, a lamp that converts into a spotlight, a reading lamp and an uplight, as well as a bright green table, blue and green dining chairs that inspire different ways of lounging, colorful rugs, a folding chair that transforms into a statement piece of art, and more.

Those who prefer neutral colors can still get in touch with their playful side with pieces like the new white three-seater sofa bed, a side table that resembles a birdhouse, minimalist pine shelves, a rattan footstool with hidden storage, and more.

The collection, the tenth iteration of the IKEA PS line, adheres to the retailer’s principle of ‘democratic design’, which aims to make products beautifully designed, highly functional and affordable.

“What often elevates a space is not how much is spent, but how purposefully it is designed. With IKEA PS 2026, every piece is created to balance price, form, function, quality and affordability, which is at the heart of democratic design,” says Routledge.

“Our PS collection plays with bold shapes, unexpected materials and multifunctional solutions, so that pieces feel expressive but also work hard in everyday life.

“When you put these elements together, you achieve a space that feels organized and high-quality, yet fun. It’s about smart design and simplicity… it’s about bringing small moments of joy into daily routines through a design that is both practical and expressive.”
