Jefferson Lewis has been charged with one count of murder in the death of five-year-old Kumanjayi Little Baby.
Kumanjayi Little Baby’s body was discovered near Old Timers Camp, south of Alice Springs, on Thursday after a five-day search.
Hours later, a man, identified by police as 47-year-old Jefferson Lewis, was arrested and taken to the hospital after allegedly being beaten before his arrest.
Northern Territory Police Commissioner Martin Dole announced the charges this morning.
“This remains a deeply disturbing case and our thoughts are strongly with Kumanjayi’s family and loved ones,” he said.
