Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake’s ‘scary’ parenting dilemma

Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake face a dilemma most parents don’t need to consider.

The star couple share two sons: Silas, 10, and Phineas, four.

While raising two kids is already a task, fame poses a whole different set of challenges – starting with managing how much their kids should be in the spotlight.

“It’s a tricky one, a tricky balance,” Biel admitted in a new interview with InStyle.

“We do really try hard not to expose them in a way that they’re not comfortable with.”

Biel and Timberlake have to deal with media on a whole new level to other parents thanks to being public figures. 

Biel then shared one occasion where she attended the US Open in August 2024 with her son Silas.

The star recalled a discussion with her son, who loves tennis, about what the public outing would entail thanks to their fame.

“We talked about photographers. You know, ‘Are you comfortable with that?'” she recalled.

“He can’t make these decisions on his own, but at this point, we can at least discuss what’s his opinion around it.”

At the end of the day, Biel decided: “You really want to give your kids every experience.”

“I don’t know if it was the right decision, to be honest with you, but he and I had a good time,” she admitted to the outlet.

The star said it’s “scary every time”.

“But it’s also their life,” she pointed out.

The actress remarked it’s a “tricky thing to figure out, what’s appropriate.”

Biel and Timberlake have been married since 2012.

The couple welcomed their first son, Silas, in 2015, and second son, Phineas, in 2020.

Timberlake has spoken about being in a dad in the past.

Appearing on the Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2022, the Mirrors singer spoke about his sons help him stay ‘childish’.

“You get to see the world again through their eyes,” he said.

“I got some really good advice from someone the other day who said ‘Keep your kids as young as they can be for as long as possible’ as that’s what keeps you young.”
