The Princess of Wales has spoken of “hope and new beginnings” as she launches a deeply personal project inspired by the healing power of nature, months after announcing she was in remission from cancer.
In a message signed off with a ‘C’ for Catherine, the 43-year-old shared the first of a new series of videos urging viewers to reconnect with the outside world.
“Over the past year, nature has been my sanctuary,” Kate says a voiceover for the series, called Mother Nature which will see a video released every quarter to coincide with the seasons.

”The natural world’s capacity to inspire us, to nurture us and help us heal and grow is boundless and has been understood for generations.”
She and Prince William are featured throughout the first first video, titled Spring, which runs for just under three minutes.
It shows her and the Prince of Wales walking together on the Isle of Mull where they celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary in late April, along with the sweeping shots of the British coastline, urban parks and the streets of London.

Narrating the video, Kate says: “It is through nature that we can fully understand the true interconnectedness of all things, the importance of balance and the importance of renewal and resilience. Connecting to nature helps us to experience a deeper sense of ourselves, the world around us, and each other.
“Spring is a season of rebirth, of hope and new beginnings. From the dark days of winter, the outside world quietly awakens with new life, and there comes a sense of optimism, anticipation and positive, hopeful change.
“Just as nature revives and renews, so too can we. Let us reconnect to nature and celebrate a new dawn within our hearts. It is often from the smallest of seeds that the greatest change can happen, and in this ever-growing complex world, we need to hold on to what connects us all.

“Spring is here, so let’s make the most of it together.”
It was filmed by Will Warr, who was behind the video released by Kensington Palace in September last year when the princess announced the end of her chemotherapy. That, too, had the theme of nature at its core, along with family.
The Princess of Wales has been making a gradual return to public duties since being diagnosed with cancer early last year.
In January she revealed she was in remission.
Kate has previously detailed how she found solace when spending time outside during her cancer journey.
Now, the mother-of-three has taken that theme even further and wants to encourage others to switch off from their digital devices and spend time outdoors.
Palace sources say Kate had been involved with the project at every stage of the creative process.
In a personal message which accompanied the video, the princess said: “This year’s Mental Health Awareness Week, we are celebrating humanity’s longstanding connection to nature, and its capacity to inspire us and help us to heal and grow in mind, body and spirit.

“As we confront the challenges of an increasingly complex and digital world, the importance of the connection between humanity and nature takes on even more significance.
“The Mother Nature series is a reminder and reflection of the beauty and complexity of the human experience. It is a tribute to the lessons we can learn from nature, helping us to foster our own growth, strengthen our bonds with the world around us and each other.”
Nature has always been a key part of Kate’s work and she’s long championed the importance of spending time outdoors, particularly when it comes with children’s development and growth.
In 2019, she designed a ’Back To Nature’ garden for the Chelsea Flower Show, highlighting the benefits of outdoor play.
Last year she said that her cancer journey had given her “a new perspective on everything”, crediting nature with her recovery.
In June, the princess was photographed standing in front of a large tree in the grounds of her Windsor home, saying that the was “not out of the woods yet”.

And in September Kate released a three-minute video where she said she was focused on being “cancer free”, with her children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis seen throughout walking and playing in the Norfolk countryside.
More recently, the princess released a video with the Scouts in which she described her connection with nature as “very spiritual and very intense”.
