King Charles and Queen Camilla have teamed up with the King and Queen of Sweden to mark a significant milestone.

Charles, 76, and Camilla, 77, met with King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia at Home Park at Windsor Castle to plant a sapling ahead of the second anniversary of the coronation of King Charles II on May 6 at Westminster Abbey.

King Charles and King Carl got their hands dirty, picking up shovels to take soil from the pile near the hole to secure the sapling in the ground. Queen Camilla and Queen Silvia then watered the sapling.

The tree is a Swedish Oak known as a Quercus Robur.

It was given as a gift from the King of Sweden to Britain’s reigning monarch. The plant is reportedly from the Swedish royal family’s private summer residence in Borgholm.

King Carl has his own causes for celebration, his birthday on April 30 and ahead of the 52nd anniversary of his accession on September 15, 1973.

He became King at the age of 27, following the death of his grandfather.

His father, Prince Gustaf Adolf, died in a plane crash when Carl was just a baby.

King Carl is the longest reigning monarch in Swedish history.

He is also on track to beat Queen Margrethe of Denmark who served as Europe’s longest reigning monarch for 52 years before abdicating.

Her eldest child, King Frederik, was then crowned alongside his Australian-born wife Queen Mary.

King Charles was crowned following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth, in September 2022.
