King Charles living life ‘as normal as possible’ amid ongoing cancer treatment

King Charles has just returned back to the UK from a whirlwind two-day royal tour of Canada, which included a historic speech in parliament.

It’s a schedule that would be taxing for any 76-year-old, let alone one who is undergoing cancer treatment.

However, a royal aide revealed His Majesty is ”driven by duty” so gets on with the job at hand and is trying to live as normal a life as possible under the circumstances.

“The thing you learn about this illness is that you just manage it,” a senior royal aide told multiple UK media outlets about how the monarch’s coping with his cancer diagnosis.

“And that’s what he does. Medical science has made incredible advances and I genuinely see no difference in him.

“As long as you just do what the doctors say, just live your life as normal as possible and that’s exactly what he is doing.

“It’s no secret that he is still having treatment but because he is incredibly fit, he is just dealing with it all incredibly well.

“As everybody knows he is driven by duty, so he just gets on with it.”

King Charles’ diagnosis came following a routine prostate surgery at The London Clinic in January 2024, where the unrelated cancer was discovered.

His announcement of his diagnosis marked a turning point for the British royals, who seldom discuss their health but the King wanted to show solidarity and understanding for others who have battled the disease.

When His Majesty made his return to public-facing duties a few months later, it was a poignant visit to a cancer centre.

“He has dealt with his illness in a very human way and the way he’s engaging with the public at a very human level,” the senior aide said.

“I think we now have a clear idea of what the Carolean age looks like and what it stands for – now and hopefully for many years to come.”

Two months ago, the monarch was taken to hospital after suffering “temporary side effects that required a short period of observation” following one of his “scheduled and ongoing medical” treatments.

Similarly, the King’s daughter-in-law Catherine, Princess of Wales, had a pre-planned abdominal surgery at The London Clinic last January, where an unrelated cancer was also discovered.

Kate underwent a course of preventative chemotherapy, which she completed around August, with the mum-of-three revealing earlier this year that she’s “in remission”.
