King Frederik X and Queen Mary will move out of Frederik VIII’s Palace next month

King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark have confirmed their next big move just days after their daughter Princess Isabella’s milestone 18th birthday.

The Danish royal palace has announced the royal couple will move out of their residence, Frederik VIII’s Palace at Amalienborg in Copenhagen next month.

The royals have confirmed they will relocate to Chancellery House at Fredensborg Palace, their summertime residence, on May 5.

The Mayor of Fredensborg will be there to welcome the royals with a performance from the Fredensborg Castle Church Girls’ Choir and the Fredensborg Brass Ensemble.

Chancellery House was built in 1731 and is attached to Fredensborg Palace.

It served as the royal couple’s first marital home after their nuptials in 2004.

They remained at Chancellery House until renovations on Frederik VIII’s Palace finished.

The royal couple had relocated to Frederik VIII’s Palace for the first time as King and Queen on September 26 with their kids.

The Danish royals share four children: Crown Prince Christian, Princess Isabella and twins Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine.

The royal family tend to split their time between the two main palaces.

The upcoming move comes after a series of celebrations for Mary and Frederik’s eldest daughter, Princess Isabella who has recently turned 18.

Denmark’s Princess Isabella turns 18: All the celebrations

Ahead of Isabella’s birthday on April 21, the Danish royals marked the milestone with a party held in her honour at Aarhus City Hall and a special performance at The Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen.

Official portraits of the Princess were also released to celebrate the occasion.

The portraits were taken at the Knight’s Hall of Frederick VIII’s Palace in Amalienborg.

In the regal photos, Isabella wore a tiara gifted by her grandma, the former Danish monarch Queen Margrethe II.

In a more candid photo taken by her mother, Isabella smiled with a phone in her hand.
