Kmart finds: The Kmart buy keeping babies warm at bedtime from $18

Produced in collaboration with Kmart

Ensuring babies stay warm and cozy in bed on winter nights is so much easier with a sleeping bag.

But not just any sleeping bag: you want one that is made of high-quality materials, is easy to clean, provides quick diaper changes and has a TOG (thermal overall grade) rating.

But you don’t have to break the budget to afford them, because TOG Australian cotton sleeping bags are available at Kmart.

For parents like Jemima it is a relief that they now have a choice of cheap sleeping bags.

“All moms know that name brand sleeping bags can get very (and inexplicably) expensive, but are often necessary to ensure a good night’s sleep. That’s why I’m so happy that Kmart has released an affordable version where the quality feels just as good,” she says.

The new products include the 2.5 TOG sleeping bag for $18 and the 3.5 TOG sleeping bag for $25.

The 2.5 sleeping bag is sleeveless and available in four versions: green dinosaur, beige bear, pink gingham and beige flowers. The available sizes are 3 to 6 months, 6 to 12 months and 12 to 24 months.

A Kmart spokesperson highlighted the two-way zippers and machine-washable materials as key features of the new designs.

“Our new TOG sleeping bags are designed to provide comfort across different seasons. The range includes different TOG levels, so parents can choose an option that suits their child and the room temperature,” said a Kmart spokesperson.

“The new designs are inspired by trends that families are drawn to: calm, simple and playful. The Kmart design team explored soft color palettes, soft patterns and motifs that fit seamlessly with a range of baby styles.”

Jemima was impressed with the 2.5 rated option when she tried it on her son, especially the two-way zipper which she called “absolutely essential”.

“When I put it to the test, it couldn’t have gone better. The first time I zipped my son into the 2.5 tog sleeping bag for his nap, he loved how warm it was in there, with the soft quilted fabric,” she said.

“I also like the versatility of the sleeveless sleeping bag. On cooler days I keep his sweater on while he naps, but when it’s warmer in his room a T-shirt and the 2.5 tog suit is perfect.”

Damien’s son wore the sleeping bag with a score of 3.5 and noticed how cozy and comfortable the sleeping bag seemed.
