A Maine Coon cat named Mr. Pugsley Addams is the proud new owner of a Guinness World Record.
While plenty of cats have a fabulous tail, including Pugsley’s feline siblings Winnie, Duchess and Gomez, his owners just knew that there was something extraordinary about Pugsley’s.
And they were right, with Pugsley now holding the Guinness World Record for the longest tail on a domestic cat (living).

Pugsley’s tail measures in at 47cm, which if you’re not a cat person, is incredibly long.
His owner Amanda Cameron told Guinness World Records that two-year-old Pugsley has become notorious within the household for his tail always getting in the way but it wasn’t until a vet trip that she realised there might be something truly remarkable about it.

“The first time I took him to the vet, he walked in and said, ‘That is a REALLY long tail’. And I looked at it, really looked at it, and I thought…’Yeah… it kind of is, isn’t it?'” She said.
After another trip to the vet where Pugsley’s tail seemed to be the talk of the clinic, she spoke to her kids about it and the family decided to see if there was a Guinness World Record title for the longest cat tail.
“And what do you know – there was,” she said.
“And to our shock, Pugsley beat it!”
The largest domestic cat breeds and how big they can get
Maine Coons are the largest domestic cat breed reaching their full size at around four or five years old.
Since Pugsley is only two, there’s a high chance his tail could get even longer.
According to Cameron, Pugsley is already aware of his long tail, especially when it becomes a target during play time with his feline siblings.

“It does get in the way, especially when he is excited, and it is standing straight up when I’m trying to feed him and so it’s in my face,” she explained.
“When we are cooking, you will always find him laying down on the tile floor, dead centre in the kitchen.
“With four cats, you learn to have some awareness of where their tail ‘should’ be, so you don’t step on it, but in situations like that. Those don’t apply to Pugsley, because his tail is another foot or so longer than where you think it would be!”
