Some of the biggest names in Australia are surrounding Magda Szubanski with love and support after she announced her stage 4 cancer diagnosis.
The beloved actress, comedian and author, 64, shared a video to Instagram this afternoon revealing she has stage 4 mantle Cell Lymphoma – a “rare, fast-moving” blood cancer.

Australian radio presenter Carrie Bickmore, who lost her husband Greg Lange to brain cancer in 2010, was one of the first to share her well wishes.
“Oh babe. F–k. You’ve got this 💪 yelling at you now from a distance that we all love you ❤️❤️”
Hugh Sheridan, who starred alongside Szubanski in the Australian production of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and hosted her on the 2012 TV series I Will Survive said, “I love you so much Magda”.
“Massive hugs being sent to you and so many more in person to come,” the actor wrote.

Carrie Bickmore wore a beanie on stage at the Logies to promote her Beanies for Brain Cancer foundation after the death of her husband. (Instagram)Hugh Sheridan is sending “massive hugs” to Szubanski.
Model and actress Megan Gale wrote that she is “sending an abundance of love, hugs and strength” to the Kath & Kim star – a message TV and radio presenter Julia Zemiro echoed, writing, “sending so much love and courage and hugs”.
Actress Kat Stewart, known for her roles in Offspring and Five Bedrooms, simply wrote, “sending you LOVE”.
For one star, Szubanski’s news hit a little closer to home.

New Zealand actor Sam Neill, 77, who also has blood cancer shared a message of solidarity.
“Right there with you darling,” he wrote.
The Jurassic Park star was diagnosed with stage 3 angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma in 2022 and is pursuing ongoing treatment.
Neill and Szubanski both starred in the 2019 film Ride Like A Girl.
The messages of love and support continue to flow with Channel Nine’s Sylvia Jeffreys and David Campbell sharing their well wishes.
“All the hugs and all the love to you, Magda. Keep those chuckles up. We are all with you (from a safe distance). X,” Jeffreys wrote.
Meanwhile, Campbell shared, “I love you so bloody much”. Szubanski is godmother to the Today Extra host’s daughter, Betty.
TV personalities Peter Hellier, Rove McManus and Edwina Bartholomew also poured out their love for the Aussie icon.

Journalist and Tracy Grimshaw expressed that Szubanski has the strength to battle her diagnosis.
“I’m so sorry to hear this Magda, but this cancer has no idea what it’s taken on does it? You come from strong, odds-defying stock and you’ll beat this. Much love x” she wrote.
It’s a sentiment shared by Masterchef-star-turned-celebrity-chef Poh Ling Yeow and the rest of Szubanski’s celebrity friends.
“You look beautiful as a Goog my love. And the Mutley laugh has me thinking you’re going to be good at this. We’re right behind you. Love u and see you soon ♥️🥚♥️,” Yeow wrote.

Going public with her diagnosis, Szubanski expressed that “it’s serious” but she has “started one of the best treatments available”.
“I won’t sugar-coat it: it’s rough. But I’m hopeful,” she said.
“I’m being lovingly cared for by friends and family, my medical team is brilliant, and I’ve never felt more held by the people around me.”
