Man who reportedly helped bring so-called ‘ISIS brides’ to Australia arrested on unrelated charges

It is understood the man traveled to Syria several months ago and attempted to help the woman and children return to Australia.

NewsCorp has reported that he was arrested on his arrival in Sydney on an unrelated assault charge after being on the same flight as Janai Safar, one of the alleged ISIS brides who landed at Sydney airport on Thursday evening.

The 32-year-old woman remains in Silverwater Women’s Prison after being transferred there at around 11pm, shortly after landing in Sydney.

However, the judge ruled that there were no exceptional circumstances and bail was refused.

A mother and daughter were also arrested in Melbourne and appeared briefly in court yesterday, where it is understood they will appear again on Monday to apply for bail.
