Meghan Markle makes cameo in Real Girls Kitchen cooking show in throwback video

More than 10 years ago, Meghan might have subtly hinted at her latest career venture.

Before she was the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle was a star on the big screen.

The actress paved her way into TV fame with her role as the headstrong paralegal Rachel Zane on the long-running legal drama series Suits.

After stepping away from her acting career, Meghan returned to our TV screens earlier this month in a new way, with her very own lifestyle series.

The Netflix series, titled With Love, Meghan, follows the duchess as she shares all her best cooking and lifestyle tips across eight episodes.

While fans might best know her acting work from Suits or movies like Dater’s Handbook and Horrible Bosses, there’s one TV cameo Meghan made over a decade ago that many might have forgotten – and looking back, was arguably a clue of what was to come.

Back in 2014, actress Haylie Duff was the latest star to start her very own cooking show.

Called The Real Girl’s Kitchen, the reality television series saw Duff – sister of singer and Disney Chanel alum Hilary Duff – invite viewers into her kitchen and get a behind-the-scenes look at her life for two seasons.

What fans might have forgotten is Meghan make a surprise cameo on the series in 2014.

At the time, Meghan was still working as an actress on Suits. 

For one episode, Meghan joined Duff on her cooking show filmed in Brooklyn.

The duo stopped by Brooklyn Brine where they sampled plates of pickled vegetables.

The decade-old cameo is just further proof Meghan has always been a foodie.

Before she met Prince Harry and joined the royal family, Meghan launched her own lifestyle blog called The Tig in 2014, which covered everything from food to exercise, sharing many of her own recipes.

In 2018, she launched her first cookbook called Together: Our Community Cookbook with the Hubb Community Kitchen.

More than a decade after launching her lifestyle blog, the Duchess of Sussex announced her new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard.

The brand was recently renamed As Ever.

Announcing the rebrand in an Instagram video, Meghan said: “If you’ve followed me since 2014 with The Tig, you know I’ve always loved cooking and crafting and gardening.

“This is what I do, and I haven’t been able to share it with you in the same way for the past few years, but now I can.”
