Meghan Markle news: Gwyneth Paltrow and the Duchess of Sussex shut down rumours of a feud

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and Gwyneth Paltrow have shut down rumours of a feud between the two of them with one 10-second video.

Paltrow addressed the online speculation in a Q&A on her Instagram story.

“Are you comprehending the Meghan Markle beef that social media says you two have?” she was asked by an anonymous social media user.

Filming a response from inside her Los Angeles home, Paltrow said, “I genuinely do not understand this whatsoever”.

She then turned to someone sitting next to her off camera and asked, ”do you understand this?”

Paltrow panned the camera to the side to reveal that Meghan was sitting right beside her, in her kitchen.

Meghan playfully shrugged as she sat at Paltrow’s island bench, eating a piece of pie.

Meghan also re-posted the pair’s tongue-in-cheek video to her 2.6 million Instagram followers.

The “beef” in question refers to online speculation that there is a rift between Meghan and Paltrow .

It was sparked by a 39-second video that Paltrow, who heads her own multi-million dollar lifestyle empire, Goop, posted to her Instagram.

In the video, Paltrow shared her “cleaner take on a classic breakfast” – scones, eggs and bacon. She was makeup free in her pyjamas in the video.

Fans quickly began speculating that the Instagram clip was a direct dig at Meghan and her highly manicured lifestyle show which recently debuted on Netflix.

However, Paltrow herself hadn’t said anything to indicate any bad blood between the two.

In fact, only days prior she threw her support behind the duchess just weeks after the royal launched her long-awaited lifestyle brand and television series.

Paltrow was asked about Meghan’s projects in an interview with Vanity Fair and the actress said she doesn’t see the duchess as a competitor.

“I was raised to see other women as friends, not foes,” Paltrow told the publication.

“I think there’s always more than enough to go around. Everybody deserves an attempt at everything that they want to try.”

She added that when “there’s noise about certain women in the culture, I do have, always, a strong instinct to stand up for them”.

As for her own connection with Meghan, Paltrow revealed that she had little to do with the duchess.

“I don’t know Meghan and Harry,” she told Vanity Fair.

“I mean, I’ve met Meghan, who seems really lovely, but I don’t know her at all,” she added.

“Maybe I’ll try to get through her security detail and bring them a pie.”

It seems Paltrow has now managed to do just that with Meghan joining her in her home for a piece of pie.
