Meghan Markle podcast: Duchess of Sussex launches first trailer for Confessions of a Female Founder

Published on

The Duchess of Sussex says she’s “building a business” in the first trailer for her new podcast, Confessions Of A Female Founder, while also promising listeners “some girl talk”.

The release of the two-minute, audio-only clip came a day after Meghan launched an online shop for fans to buy her fashion, while the duchess takes a cut from the purchases made.

Meghan’s podcast will premier on April 8 on Lemonada Media and it will be her first since Archetypes, which she released on Spotify in 2022.

In the trailer she says: ”I’m Meghan, and this is Confessions Of A Female Founder, a show where I chat with female entrepreneurs and friends about the sleepless nights, the lessons learnt and the laser focus that got them to where they are today.

“We’re diving into the highs – and the lows – and the kind of advice that turns small ideas into billion-dollar businesses. And of course, we’re going to get some girl talk.

“And through it all, I’m building a business of my own and getting all sorts of practical advice along the way that I’m very excited to share with you.”

The clip features snippets from the show’s various unidentified guests who speak about their own successes and struggles.

One says: “It just started climbing and climbing and climbing, and there was 5,000, 10,000 people on our website,” while another adds: “I’m sitting there the next day, I’ve pissed off everybody, I’m broke, and no one is calling me”.

Another guest tells Meghan: “I knew in that moment I’d rather stand for something than sell a whole ton of product and stand for nothing.”

It doesn’t appear to be all business, though, with Meghan heard asking a guest about her relationship status.

“Are you saying you’re not single now? Have I missed something in the past couple weeks? What’s happening?” the duchess asks, as they both laugh.

Meghan promises the podcast won’t be “Shark Tank…think of this as ‘dolphin tank.’ These are very friendly waters, it’s all going to be good”.

She adds: “So join me for Confessions Of A Female Founder from Lemonada Media, which, by the way, is also female-founded, launching April 8, wherever you get your podcasts. Let’s do this, ladies.”

Meghan’s life on Instagram: all her best posts so far

On Instagram, Meghan shared a short clip showing her recording one of the episodes, wearing headphones with a microphone and seated at a lounge with a laptop in front of her.

The eight-part series was announced by the US-based media company last year.

Meghan previously hosted Archetypes, which ran for just one season with 12 episodes, and was the only offering to emerge from her and Prince Harry’s $40 million Spotify deal.

They also released a short “holiday special” episode, featuring son Archie’s first words in public, but their deal was not renewed.

Weeks after confirmation that Spotify and Archewell Audio had “mutually agreed to part ways”, the CEO of United Talent Agency Jeremy Zimmer said the duchess was “not a great audio talent“.

“And, you know, just because you’re famous doesn’t make you great at something,” he added.

Prince Harry is said to have pitched a number of podcast ideas to Spotify, including a show where he would interview controversial figures including Russian President Vladimir Putin and former US President Donald Trump about childhood trauma.
