Meghan Markle podcast: Royal announces surprise bonus episode of Confessions of a Female Founder with mystery guest

Just when fans thought Meghan had wrapped up the first season of her podcast, she’s come through with a surprise.

The Duchess of Sussex has revealed a bonus episode of Confessions of a Female Founder will drop next week, featuring a “very special” guest.

It seems the mystery interviewee was someone too good to resist.

“When a matriarch calls, and when this matriarch calls, oh, you answer,” Meghan says in an audio clip teasing the episode.

The video then cuts to a snippet of the guest speaking, illustrated with an outline of their silhouette.

“That’s why I fight so hard. Now, I tell them every day… I mean, since they were little girls, ‘You belong anywhere you choose to be’,” the voice says.

“Can you guess who it is?” Meghan asks her followers.

“This one is so special, y’all. See you next week.”

Don’t worry, we’ll put you out of your misery: it’s been confirmed the special guest is Tina Knowles, the mother of Beyoncé and Solange Knowles.

Not only is Meghan a Beyoncé fan from way back – recently attending her concert in LA – but Tina’s new memoir is titled Matriarch, which makes the wording of the duchess’ teaser a very obvious clue.

The first season of Confessions of a Female Founder, which Meghan released in partnership with Lemonada Media, had officially finished last week with the eighth episode featuring Spanx founder Sara Blakely.

”Well, that’s a wrap,” the duchess announced at the end of the episode.

“It’s just the beginning but my goodness, it’s been really great to be able to share it with you.”

Previous guests included IT Cosmetics CEO Jamie Kern Lima – who, in turn, interviewed Meghan on her own podcast – and Whitney Wolfe Herd from Bumble.

The royal previously hosted a podcast series called Archetypes, produced as part of Meghan and Harry’s content deal with Spotify.

The series explored stereotypes levelled at women and featured celebrity guests including Mariah Carey, Paris Hilton and Mindy Kaling.
