A Melbourne woman has shared the story of how she was married for just one hour before her groom fled the wedding.

Kylie called in to Nova’s Late Drive with Ben, Liam & Belle to share her story.

“We got married, had a beautiful wedding, and (by) the reception, he was gone,” she told the show.

She recalled that they did the ceremony and even a photoshoot, during which “he was beautiful. He was the love of my life.”

But after that he “absolutely disappeared. And I did not hear anything from him for months.”

While the guests were “fine to just still eat the food and have a good night”, Kylie retreated to her room by herself.

When she did hear from the man she spent six years in a relationship with, he simply told her that he didn’t want to be with her.

“Obviously he was seeing somebody else,” Kylie remarked, “But he let us get married.”

She later revealed that he was seeing her own cousin.

The hosts balked at this new piece of information, with Belle putting together the dots: ”That’s who he was cheating on you with!”

Kylie simply joked, ”Keep it in the family!”, sharing that she now never sees that cousin or that side of the family as a result.

The wedding happened a long time ago, with Kylie reassuring the hosts and audience that while she never got remarried, “We laugh about it now. My kids, they think it’s hilarious. It’s brought up all the time.”
