I personally didn’t go down the route of getting a specific “nappy” bag when I became a mum, instead throwing all the baby-related stuff in my normal handbag.
But now, the bottom of it is covered in crumbs – thanks to quickly grabbing packets of toddler snacks while out, and having no proper way to seal the bag, instead just throwing it in and hoping for the best.
Turns out there’s a hack to seal packets without a clip and a mum on Instagram has shared how to do it, dubbing it the “ultimate mum hack” in the process.

With a packet of yoghurt covered rice crackers – a much-loved toddler favourite – as her example she held it up to the camera.
Flicking over the little corners creates a seal on the bag, meaning the rest of the contents are tucked inside. (Instagram/@jessica_villanueva_)
She started by making a diagonal fold with the top corners, making a point in the middle of the open end of the packet.
Starting from the top she made some folds down, on the opposite side of where the folds are on the packet – in her case along the back.
After making several folds, until it was about half way down the bag, she simply flicked the two tabs that she had made over and ta-duh the bag was sealed shut.

She shook it upside down and nothing undid or fell open, meaning the rest of the crackers and crumbs were sealed in tight.
It means no more searching for bag clips when you’re opening packets of snacks to keep your kids happy, and so quick and easy to do when out and about too – taking only seconds.

Another joked, “I like this. Please give me all the life hacks so I don’t have to look at TikTok.”

The best thing is the hack is one you can just whip out at anytime to keep snacks fresh, which is great when kids can be so hot and cold with what they like.
It’s also a great one to remember when travelling, when things like snack bag clips are definitely not a forethought when packing.
