“When we were growing up it was ‘you get married and you have a husband and you have kids and you have a house and you have a business’ and it wasn’t that my parents were that way against me, but the world was that way,” the 50-year-old said.

“I feel like — whether it’s true or not, I’ll never know — that if I had been with a woman in my 20s, I probably wouldn’t have been with a man, that’s what I feel.”

Bassingthwaighte has been in a relationship with Pip Loth since 2023, after she split from McGlinchey, and the couple got engaged last October.

She said being co-parents and being honest with their two children — daughter Harper, 15, and son Hendrix, 12 — has been a cornerstone for their family.

“You want to protect your children at all costs… so that’s true, but if you lie to your children, it’s forever,” the mother of two said.

“Don’t lie to your kids, they’re too smart for that stuff. I’m a firm believer in telling them the truth.”

The former Neighbors actress added that she is “so obsessed with my kids” that she knows her life turned out the way it was meant to.
