Peppa Pig: Baby sister is here, name and birth announcement Evie Pig

One of TV’s most famous families are celebrating the arrival of their newest addition. 

Mummy Pig and Daddy Pig, known of course through the beloved children’s show Peppa Pig, have welcomed their third child. 

The couple shared the news in rather iconic fashion, taking a twist on the traditional royal birth announcement to share the baby’s arrival and name.

The newest member of the Pig family is baby Evie; she was born at 5:34am, with both Mummy Pig and baby doing well. 

The couple also went all out with a jubilant town crier, who of course had a regal scroll-style proclamation and the unveiling of an official birth notice.

Big siblings Peppa and George are said to be over the moon and excited to meet their new baby sister, while Mummy and Daddy Pig are “looking forward to lots of happy snorts and sleepless nights.”

It seems as though Mummy and Daddy Pig are keeping up with trends too, opting for one of the biggest new trends for baby girl names with their daughter. 

The name Evie plays perfectly into the ‘nickname names’ trend, which is tipped to be big in 2025. 

But the name is also a popular choice.

The name Evie is slowly climbing up the ranks both here in Australia and overseas too. Here, the name reached number 25 on the Top Girls Names for 2024, while in 2023 it reached number 24 in the charts in England. 

Evie is also a family name, honouring Mummy Pig’s aunt Evie. 

Clearly, the couple are in line with trends – and the royals – with George also a classic name that’s constantly in the top charts worldwide. 

Peppa on the other hand is the more unique choice for the parents, clearly going a bit out there for their first child.

The couple are clearly big fans of the royal family, sharing one of their own royal inspired naps, proudly showing off baby Evie outside the hospital doors.

But they’re just like most modern parents too, and Mummy Pig snapped a pic of Daddy Pig doing the ‘hot dad walk’.

For those who don’t know, the ‘hot dad walk’ is the moment the proud dad strolls out of the maternity ward with the new addition – often in the capsule, on their way home.

In February it was announced that the family was growing.

A post on the official Peppa Pig account shared the wonderful news that Mummy Pig was pregnant with her third child.

The account has documented the pregnancy, keeping fans up to date with everything from cravings to a gender reveal and counting down to baby Evie’s arrival.
