A man is in custody today after a woman’s body was dumped in a busy street outside a Perth apartment building.

Authorities are investigating the woman’s cause of death and whether there are any suspicious circumstances

The woman has not yet been formally identified

Police launched a major investigation involving major detectives before it was announced this evening that a 35-year-old was in custody assisting their investigation.

Earlier, WA Police Inspector Jayd Morawski urged the man to contact police.

“We want to provide the full picture so we know exactly what happened so we can give answers to the family and give answers to the state coroner,” Morawski said.

“There needs to be a conversation, there are answers that need to be given and he can give those answers so we would like him to do that on his own accord.

“Ultimately, we have a lot of resources and a lot of technology that we can use to find this person.

“We know who he is and the best thing he can do is turn himself in to the police.”

Police do not believe there is any threat to the wider community.

“This is an isolated issue and as such we do not believe the community is at any risk,” Morawski said.

The police are also looking for camera footage and dashcam footage from Grand Boulevard between 9:30 AM and 9:45 AM today.
