Prince Andrew accuser Virginia Giuffre bus crash: Family issue statement after confusion and inconsistencies over bus crash claims days to live

Published on

The family of Virginia Giuffre, who alleged she was sexually trafficked to Prince Andrew and others by the financier Jeffrey Epstein, have issued a statement after the American-Australian woman claimed she had “days to live”.

Giuffre, 41, posted on social media on Sunday night that she had been hit by a school bus and was in renal failure, telling her followers she was “ready to go”.

Police in Western Australia later said there had been a “minor” crash between a bus and a car on March 24 but “no reported injuries”.

Now, Giuffre’s family has responded following confusion over the incident.

In a statement they said: “On March 24, in rural Western Australia, a school bus hit the car in which she was riding. The police were called but said that there was no one available to come to the scene. They asked if anyone was injured and suggested that if they were, they should make their way to the hospital.

“The school bus driver had a bus full of distraught children and left the scene to get them back, saying he would file a police report, which he did later. Virginia was banged up and bruised and returned home.”

Giuffre’s condition then worsened, the family said, and she was admitted to the hospital.

Her family said Giuffre intended to post the message to her private Facebook page, instead of her public Instagram account.

In her social media post, alongside a photo appearing to show her with numerous bruises, Giuffre said: “This year has been the worst start to a new year, but I won’t bore anyone with the details but I think it important to note that when a school bus driver comes at you driving 110km as we were slowing for a turn that no matter what your car is made of it might as well be a tin can.

“I’ve gone into kidney renal failure, they’ve given me four days to live, transferring me to a specialist hospital in urology. I’m ready to go, just not until I see my babies one last time, but you know what they say about wishes.”

She is understood to have recently separated from her husband of 22 years.

A week ago, Giuffre posted about missing her two children.

“My beautiful babies have no clue how much I love them and they’re being poisoned with lies,” she wrote.

“I miss them so very much. I have been through hell & back in my 41 years but this is incredibly hurting me worse than anything else. My heart is shattered and every day that passes my sadness only deepens.”

Giuffre has been living in Perth for some time, after retreating from public life.

In February 2022, Prince Andrew agreed to settle a lawsuit filed by Giuffre and was ordered by a New York court to pay in excess of $20 million.

The Duke of York has always strenuously denied the allegations.

Under the terms of the settlement, Prince Andrew said that he would make a “substantial donation” to Giuffre’s charity in support of victims’ rights. It contained no admission of liability and no apology.
