Prince Louis was the epitome of a well-behaved royal for this year’s Trooping the Colour, that is until the last few moments of the royal family’s balcony appearance.

The monarch’s birthday parade event took place in the London sunshine today, with the Princess of Wales, 43, travelling on a carriage with her three children – Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, seven.

Prince William, 42, joined Princess Anne and Prince Edward on horseback for the event.

Aside from a wide-toothed grin and enthusiastic waving, Louis was perfectly behaved.

Until the family gathered on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for the traditional Royal Airforce flyover.

King Charles, 76, and Queen Camilla, 77, were front and centre on the balcony. To their left were the Prince and the Princess of Wales with their children standing in front of them.

The royals viewed the flyover as it roared overhead.

Following the flyover, the royals waved goodbye to the large crowds who had gathered below and were preparing to leave the balcony when Prince Louis began waving even more enthusiastically, long after his family had stopped.

King Charles and Queen Camilla seemed amused by the young royal’s antics and, as did the Prince and Princess of Wales, with William laughing at his youngest son’s excitement.

It was Prince George who intervened, placing his hand on his younger brother’s arm to signal that the time to wave was over.

Although he did manage one more wave as he was led of the balcony with his family.

This is the first time the world has seen George step in to correct Louis’ behaviour. Normally this is left to Princess Charlotte who has taken responsibility for her younger brother’s conduct.

She has been seen holding Louis’ hand as they made their way to their seats at Westminster Abbey for the King’s coronation in 2023 and during the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebration in 2022.
