Prince Harry hones his AFL skills on second day of Australian tour

Prince Harry spent the morning refining his AFL skills Melbourne’s inner west, on the second day of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Australian tour.

The Duke took center stage at Whitten Oval in Footscray this morning, learning a few tricks of the trade from Western Bulldogs players and mingling with young fans and members of The Wiggles.

Within the club, Harry attended a private Movember event, where he discussed his experiences with therapy and the impact of fatherhood on his life.

“Certainly from a therapy point of view, you want to be the best version of yourself for your children,” Harry said during the question and answer session, the Press Association reports.

“And I knew I had things from the past that I needed to deal with, and so I prepared myself to basically cleanse myself of the past.”

He also received Western Bulldogs jerseys with the names of his two children Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4, printed on the back.

Several dozen fans lined Whitten Oval hoping to catch a glimpse of the prince, but he slipped in through a side exit and left through a back door.

“It’s a shame we didn’t do that, but his presence was here,” said one fan.

He is expected to fly to Canberra this afternoon for a number of engagements at the Australian War Memorial.

The Prince will also attend a reception for Invictus Australia, in recognition of his strong association with the Invictus Games – a leading sporting event for the defense community.

Meghan did not appear at the engagements this morning and it is believed she is not scheduled to attend any public or private events today.

Prince Harry returns to Melbourne tonight, ahead of a public appearance with the Duchess on the banks of the Yarra River tomorrow.

The couple will take part in a guided First Nations cultural walk along the Yarra, which is expected to be the public’s best chance to see the couple.
