Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are “stronger as a couple” ahead of their seventh wedding anniversary on May 19.
BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told The Mirror the effect of them both having “isolated themselves from their respective families” and having “burned so many bridges” is that they “must rely more heavily on one another”.
“It also seems quite extraordinary that it’s only seven years since Meghan walked up that aisle and took her place in the Royal family,” Bond continued.

She said much of what has happened since Harry and Meghan’s royal wedding makes for “very depressing reading” however the one thing that has remained unchanged is “the love they apparently felt for one another almost the moment they met”.
The royal correspondent speculates that there’s a strong message in the photo shared by Meghan following Harry’s emotional interview about his estrangement from his family following his UK security battle loss.

“I think the recent post of Harry walking into the distance with his two children suggested that he’s walking away from his old life once and for all,” she said.
“And I very much doubt that there will be anniversary wishes winging their way from the UK to California.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex reportedly first met on a blind date in the July 2016, set up by a mutual friend while Meghan was visiting London.
At the time Meghan, 43, was starring in the hit American TV series Suits.
Their first public appearance as a couple was at the Invictus Games opening ceremony in 2017.
Harry and Meghan announced their engagement later that year in November, with the duchess retiring from acting ahead of her royal wedding on May 19, 2018.
At first, the couple were popular additions to the British royal family however things quickly took a turn and the pair resigned as senior working members of the monarchy in January 2020.

The duke and duchess moved to Montecito in the US with their son Prince Archie, now six, later welcoming their daughter Princess Lilibet, three.
Already, relations between Harry and his family were tense. Then, he and Meghan sat down for a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey in March during which they revealed intimate details of their dissatisfaction with their time as working royals.

It’s safe to say this greatly added to tensions between Harry and his family, as did his continuing battle for fulltime police protection for his family during his trips back home, which was eventually denied, despite Harry taking legal action all the way to the appeals court.
“I thought, with all the disagreements and all of the chaos that’s happening, the one thing that I could rely on is my family keeping me safe,” he later told the BBC following his eventually loss.
Harry spoke negatively about the royal family once more, saying he wished to reconcile with is family but admitting that is unlikely.

“Of course, some members of my family will never forgive me for writing a book. Of course, they will never forgive me for lots of things. But, you know … I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight anymore.”
Harry revealed he is no longer in touch with his father, King Charles, who is undergoing cancer treatment.
“I don’t know how much longer my father has,” Harry said.
“He won’t speak to me because of this security stuff, but it would be nice to reconcile.”
